From March 19 to April 24, 2026, the Swabian Castle of Bari - Regional Directorate of National Museums of Puglia hosts the exhibition "Preventive Peace: from Love Difference to Flag of the World" by Michelangelo Pistoletto and Angelo Savarese and welcomes the launch of the project "Mediterranean. Cultural Geographies", articulated between the Swabian Castle of Bari, Castel del Monte, and Mola di Bari. The exhibition opens on Thursday, March 19 at 5:30 pm, in the spaces of the Swabian Castle of Bari, the exhibition by Michelangelo Pistoletto and Angelo Savarese, curated by Fortunato D'Amico, Rosalinda Romanelli, and Maria Vinella, visitable until April 24 and included in the entrance ticket to the Castle. The exhibition inaugurates "Mediterranean. Cultural Geographies", a project promoted by the Academy of Fine Arts of Bari in collaboration with the Polytechnic of Bari and the Conservatory "E. R. Duni" of Matera, within the national program P+ARTS - Partnership for Artistic Research, Technology and Sustainability, with NABA as the lead partner, and carried out with the involvement of the Swabian Castle of Bari - Regional Directorate of National Museums of Puglia.
Thanks to this collaboration, the Regional Directorate of National Museums of Puglia reaffirms a now consolidated vocation: to make heritage sites not only spaces for conservation, but living contexts for cultural production, research, and interdisciplinary dialogue. The Swabian Castle of Bari hosts the inaugural event and a central part of the program, confirming itself as a cultural stronghold capable of activating relationships between institutions, artists, scholars, students, and diverse audiences.
In this context, the dialogue between contemporary art and cultural heritage plays a decisive role. In recent years, Puglia has clearly shown how this confrontation can be virtuous: just think of the experience of Siponto, where a contemporary artistic intervention has given new readability and new life to an archaeological context. This perspective fully aligns with the spirit of the Faro Convention, which invites us to consider cultural heritage as a shared legacy, continuously reinterpreted by communities and transmitted to future generations. The Swabian Castle of Bari, with its historical stratification and its symbolic position on the Mediterranean, thus confirms itself not only as a place of memory but as an active space for cultural production and international dialogue.
