From 3 October to 28 February 2025
From 3 October 2024 to 28 February 2025, the rooms of Palazzo Pallavicini will host for the first time ever in Bologna an exhibition dedicated to Antonio Ligabue, a great Italian expressionist painter (Zurich, 12 December 1899 – Gualtieri, 27 May 1965).Organised and created by Chiara Campagnoli, Deborah Petroni and Rubens Fogacci of Pallavicini srl, together with the Artistic Direction and curatorship of WeAreBeside, production in collaboration with SM.Art and sponsored by the Augusto Agosta Tota Foundation for Antonio Ligabue, with texts by Francesca Bogliolo.
The exhibition, divided into 8 rooms, will tell the fascinating story of this artist with a tormented history with over 60 paintings, 10 sculptures and 10 drawings. For Ligabue, art has always been an innate need that helped him endure the difficulties and pains of life. This can be seen above all in the strength of his paintings which still strikes us today, exciting and deeply affecting. The exhibition presents the art of this ever-evolving visionary genius, his passionate research with which he knew how to invent and renew his works using violent, but still harmonious colours, in their pressing emotional suggestion, proposing a popular and refined iconography.
