The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Bolzano presents Sven Sachsalber. Mapping an artistic practice: a research project by Museion, an exhibition dedicated to the research project on the South Tyrolean artist Sven Sachsalber (1987–2020). The display represents the public presentation of a multi-year investigation, promoted by Museion and funded by the German Cultural Department of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, carried out in collaboration with BAU - Institute for Contemporary Art and Ecology - and the artist's family.

Started in 2021 and concluded in 2025, the research aimed at the reconstruction, inventory, and systematic mapping of Sachsalber's work and artistic relationships, an artist who made a name for himself on the international art scene through videos, editorial projects, and paintings, but above all with his subtly poetic and absurdly close performances. Museion, which has accompanied his career since the beginning, celebrates the artist's legacy on the fifth anniversary of his passing, presenting the results of this intense study and archiving work in the spaces of Museion Passage.

The exhibition - curated by BAU, Lisa Mazza, and Simone Mair - engages in a dialogue with archival materials, documents, interviews, and digitized works, revolving around six thematic strands that emerged from over thirty interviews with friends, colleagues, and collaborators of the artist: art, body, time, books, home, and friendship. These thematic cores offer a new perspective on his way of thinking and creating, and are accompanied by quotes, publications, and reproductions of works developed by Sachsalber throughout a prolific artistic career.
