Inside the museum, housed within the deconsecrated church of San Lorenzo, the heart of Cremona's archaeological discoveries is preserved.
The over 500 artifacts in the building are displayed along an articulated thematic path in three sections: the public space, where the monumental remains of the church and some parts of the buildings dedicated to civil, religious, and leisure functions stand out, the private space, evidenced by the rich domus of the Labirinto from via Cadolini, the Ninfeo from piazza Marconi, and via Colletta, and the necropolises, with parts of monuments and funerary furnishings.
Visitors to the Museo Archeologico can also experience the suggestion of entering a Roman-era house through the use of an Oculus viewer that allows them to move within the virtual recreation of some rooms of the Ninfeo domus: the peristyle, the pantry, and an elegant bedroom.
The museum pays particular attention to accessibility: it is equipped with didactic tools for the visually impaired and blind, and offers easy-to-read and understand materials to accompany the visit.
