Heinz Innerhofer is one of the silent chroniclers of South Tyrol—a photographer who, with a watchful eye and great sensitivity, makes the everyday visible. His pictures tell stories of landscape and life, of working worlds and traditions, of transformation and stagnation. In doing so, Innerhofer often works in a documentary style, but is never distant: his closeness to the people and places is palpable.
The power in his photographic work often lies in the things that do not immediately become apparent. His images open up spaces between reality and imagination, between documentary accuracy and subtle surrealism. He not only makes the invisible visible but also captures what hovers between things: traces of memory and atmosphere.
With reduced compositions, targeted light, and his characteristic blur, Innerhofer manages to give his images an enigmatic depth.
In his series motusBerg, he shows spotlights of South Tyrolean landscapes, mountains, and people. The photographs, both in black-and-white and color, resemble blurred sketches that talk about our landscape, which never seems to stand still.
The series is complemented by sound performances by Christina Auer, Riccardo Coelati Rama, and RagenCompany. The live performance, a multi-layered connection of image, sound, and movement, creates an immediate, living moment; the space opens up, boundaries dissolve.
