This castle, perched among the greenery of the Apennines in Tuscany, is the birthplace of one of the greatest artists of all time, Michelangelo Buonarroti, who was born here on March 6, 1475. The site preserves much of the fortifications and some internal buildings. Among these is the palace of the Podesteria, the house where Michelangelo Buonarroti was born. The entire complex is a Museum and houses works by sculptural personalities such as Emilio Greco, Vincenzo Gemito, Medardo Rosso, Canova. Part of the museum's historical collection, formed starting from 1875, is a substantial collection of Michelangelo's works in plaster casts.
