From 26 July to 31 August 2025
The Malvina Menegaz Foundation for Arts and Cultures presents a solo exhibition by Gilberto Zorio (Andorno Micca, Biella, 1944) in two venues (Palazzo De Sanctis and Palazzo Clemente), curated by Ilaria Bernardi, conceived as an incursion into his 60 years of activity, from the mid-1960s to today, through a selection of 30 iconic installations.
At Palazzo De Sanctis, the exhibition unfolds on the three floors of the building to outline a journey through the main iconographic-conceptual motifs of the artist's work: from the chemical and physical reactions developed in the second half of the 1960s (on the ground floor of the palace), to the works of the 1970s where light and word become bearers of transformation (on the first floor of the palace), to the subsequent works that, evoking the typical forward throw of javelins from behind which they are made, embody the convergence between past, present, and future (on the second floor, in front of the first flight of stairs on the ground floor and above that first flight of the palace).
The two javelin stars placed in front of the first flight of stairs on the ground floor and above that first flight of the palace serve as a link between the two palaces. At Palazzo Clemente, in fact, the exhibition addresses the possible variations of the most recurring iconographic-conceptual element in Zorio's production and for which he is best known: the star, which has been part of his lexicon since 1972.
Emerging from the exhibition is the very essence of the artist's work: focusing on the energy that as such produces movement, surpassing the linearity of space and time, projecting far and into the future, the myths and archetypes of our past.Viale XXIV Maggio, 28, Castelbasso, Italy
