The Highlights exhibition opens to the public on Friday 26 May 2023. Masters from the 1500s to the 18th century by the National Museums of Genoa staged, until 24 September 2023, in the Teatro del Falcone of Palazzo Reale and dedicated to the heritage of the collections of the National Museums of Genoa, with over forty works by great artists such as Joos van Cleve , Tintoretto, Orazio Gentileschi, Antoon van Dyck, Guercino, Grechetto, Bernardo Strozzi, five of which are recent acquisitions by the Ministry of Culture on display for the first time.
The two Genoese museums bring their main works from the 1500s to the 1700s into dialogue for the first time in a special setting, thus highlighting the richness of the ancient Genoese collections. On display are Flemish, Venetian, Bolognese, Neapolitan, Roman paintings and paintings from the major European pictorial schools as well as some masterpieces of Ligurian and Italian sculpture.
The exhibition ends with an invitation to discover the rooms of the two historic houses, on a journey to discover the unique heritage of the National Museums of Genoa.

Royal Palace, noble floor – from 26 May to 24 September 2023
At the same time, nineteen works by artists from the second half of the 20th century are on display in the halls of the main floor of Palazzo Reale, taking the place of the ancient works presented in the exhibition. The works, placed inside the rooms, dialogue with the historical collections creating unprecedented combinations in a fruitful encounter between ancient and contemporary, highlighting the important role of collecting yesterday and today. In fact, the exhibition allows visitors to appreciate a selection of the rich heritage of Genoese private collections, unknown to the general public.
