New contemporary art exhibition at the Royal Castle of Govone from 17 June to 10 September 2023

Saturday 17 June at 18 inaugurates the new contemporary art exhibition with an international scope entitled The forms of lightness , conceived and curated by the Fly Art Cultural Association of Turin in collaboration with the Govone Arte commission of the Association Govone Residenza Sabauda in full awareness and respect for the experimental philosophy that has been animating the artistic events of the Royal Castle of Govone for years.

Expressly imagined and conceived to create a reinterpretation of the historic rooms of the castle in relation to the exhibited works, clearly contemporary in nature, the artistic project winds through the two exhibition areas of the castle, namely the Piano Nobile and the rooms on the ground floor.

On the Noble Floor | edited by Roberto Borra

The project develops as a flow of lightness that expands along the rooms through a significant body of works by 8 artists who use paper as an expression of the concept of lightness and matter.

Paper is a material that allows you to go to the basis of creative inspiration, to the primary source of the artist's idea who places the first sign formulation of the sculptural or pictorial concept on it and through which one can express himself in the most absolute freedom creative.

Two of the eight artists, Abra and Giovanni Pinosio, will use wire and steel as an antithesis, as opposed to paper, questioning with their installations the real weight of our interiority and the language of emptiness.

Each artist will have one or more rooms available for their project. The works will be presented and exhibited in diversified forms (on the wall, floating, in the form of an installation, on the ground) selected or created specifically to interact with the environments, creating a regenerative dialogue in the case of pre-established works and generative for those expressly created for the occasion.

Downstairs , in the entrance hall, each artist present on the Piano Nobile will exhibit two works with the aim of creating a multifaceted expressive fresco linked to the concept of lightness as conceived by Italo Calvino who wrote in the "American Lessons":

“At times when the realm of the human seems to me doomed to heaviness, I think I should fly like Perseus to another space. I'm not talking about escapes into dreams or into the irrational. I mean I have to change my approach. The problem is that perhaps the point of view in which we are immersed now is not the most suitable for us and what better than literature and art can make us lose our balance, helping us to find a new one?”.

Getting lost in the flow of works in dialogue with the history of the castle and the psychological and emotional insurgences instilled by such beauty will lead the visitor to experience the different conceptions of lightness proposed by the artists with an open mind.

It is a question of finding Ariadne's thread so that the path does not appear as an empty labyrinth with no exit, but as an organic alternation of pauses for reflection and inner contemplation. A hymn to life that as ascending energy challenges the force of gravity.
