PAFF! – International Museum of Comic Art
The great comic returns as a protagonist in Jesi for the third edition of the events dedicated to the ninth art which this year is proposed by the great Japanese author Kamimura Kazuo.
The exhibition, organized in collaboration between ACCA Academy of Comics Creativity and Visual Arts Jesi, Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Jesi and PAFF! of Pordenone, is an extraordinary event that will allow you to appreciate an absolute master of manga and his refined technical and artistic solutions. Emotions and feelings, masterfully represented, summarized in 60 original works , 50 of which are exhibited for the first time worldwide .
The exhibition, curated by Paolo La Marca , also curator of the publication of Kamimura's work in Italy, with the collaboration of Alessio Trabacchini and Giovanni Nahmias , and the coordination of Roberto Gigli, is itinerant: the first stage is scheduled from 15 September to 19 November 2023 in Jesi (AN), at Palazzo Bisaccioni, headquarters of the Cassa di Risparmio di Jesi Foundation, subsequently it will be rearranged at PAFF! International Museum of Comic Art in Pordenone.
Kamimura Kazuo (1940-1986) is unanimously considered one of the great classics of world comics . His elegant but never superficially decorative drawing combines a profound knowledge of classical Japanese painting, especially that developed between the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, with the typical dynamism of manga.
A painter and graphic designer before being a cartoonist, Kamimura paid great attention to the balance of composition and attention to detail, characteristics that make his approach to drawn narration unique and his originals particularly seductive.
« Kamimura's sign – as co-curator Giovanni Nahmias writes – affects the page, makes it bleed, arouses authentic feelings. It generates points of light, or rather backlight, which illuminate the actions of the characters from within and give a special value to the moment represented. A sign full of sensuality, because it is capable of involving the reader on the intimate level of the senses: it makes us feel pain and pleasure, it makes us feel hot and cold, it surprises us and soothes us, it hungers us and satisfies us. Complicit, revealing. It's heartbreaking, always ."
The initiative includes a rich series of connected in-depth events that will take place throughout the period of the exhibition, also free, in the form of laboratories, workshops and seminars aimed at a wide audience and schools.
