On one side the iconic beauty, on the other the environmental issues related to mass tourism and pollution: the double face of Lake Como will be unveiled in the exhibition The Muses of Lake Como, from June 28 to July 27, 2025, at the Viscontea Tower in Lecco.It is the project conceived and curated by the journalist and professor Viviana Musumeci, with photographs by Monica Cordiviola and is carried out in collaboration with the Municipality of Lecco and the Urban Museum System of Lecco, in partnership with the Historical Boats Association of Lake Como and the minor lakes, it is part of the rich annual calendar of exhibitions of the Municipality of Lecco.The setup is designed as an immersive installation that welcomes the visitor in a bare space, dominated by waste collected on the beaches of Lake Como by Viviana Musumeci herself, cleaned and sanitized. A concrete testimony of the pervasive presence of waste - especially plastic - in the natural environment.
The innovative element of the exhibition lies in the call to action: visitors are invited to take away one of the collected objects, contributing to leaving the room empty and clean, transforming the act of enjoyment into an act of responsibility.The breathtaking shots taken by the photographer Monica Cordiviola represent the true element of hope in the natural beauty of the Lake. Her muses - bold, daring, and sensual women, models and women from the world of entertainment like Justine Mattera and Martina Colombari - embody the natural beauty and the most authentic soul of Lake Como, suggesting a possible future of harmony between man and the environment.The Muses of Lake Como does not limit itself to documenting reality, but aims to stir consciences and stimulate a deep reflection: how responsible are we for the conditions of our environment? And how much can we change, even through small daily gestures?
