Catania, Italy
The MACS rises inside the Badia Piccola of the Monastery of San Benedetto in Via Crociferi of Catania and since 2013 has been hosting Sicilian, Italian and international artists, with various exhibitions of figurative contemporary art.
In harmony with the splendid setting that houses it and with the beautiful frescoes of the Church of San Benedetto, annexed to the Monastery, the MacS combines the eighteenth-century architectural beauty with the modernity of contemporary art; the museum is in fact the part of the union that starts from the distant Baroque pictorial tradition to arrive at the contemporary and whose objective is to enhance the cultural heritage of the Sicilian heritage, often creating cultural associations with equally prestigious historical-artistic containers, and promoting the knowledge of the Italian and international contemporary art giving space to young emerging talents and to established artists.
