MUG 2 Ugo Guidi Museum 2 in collaboration with the FLY ART Association

Is pleased to present from June 21 to July 6, 2025, an exhibition of paintings by sixteen artists, renowned figures in the art world active in Piedmont in the 1960s and 1970s - selected among the most representative of the fruitful relationship established between the sculptor master Ugo Guidi and the Turin art scene.

In 1962, Ugo Guidi was a prominent figure in the art scene with a solo exhibition curated by his friend Ardengo Soffici at the Piemonte Artistico e Culturale in Turin.

In the second half of the 20th century, Turin established itself as an international avant-garde laboratory of Arte Povera and the ferment of Informel and the Japanese avant-garde Gutai Group, which arrived in the city thanks to the presence of the French critic Michele Tapié in the Savoy capital.

To support the climate of intercultural exchange in the Turin art scene in the second half of the 20th century were the contacts of some Turin artists with the Danish Asger Jorn, active in the lively artistic and cultural reality of Albissola Marina in Liguria, an important crossroads of ceramic art.

Ugo Guidi's experience in Turin and the subsequent exhibitions in Rome and Milan, rich in avant-garde tensions, represented an important period and a further push in the artistic evolution of the Master.

Ugo Guidi, a master of the second half of the 20th century, is a sculptor who holds a territorial and cultural heritage of extraordinary value that, in Versilia, thanks to the establishment in 1957 of the National Sculpture Prize City of Carrara and the Sculpture Biennale City of Carrara, attracted to his enlightened territory, also illuminated by the splendor of the Apuan Alps, many of the greatest artists in the world: Henry Moore, Hans Arp, Arturo Martini, Joan Mirò.
