Since June 28th, at the exhibition pavilion of the SoutHeritage Foundation as part of the exhibition calendar GENIUS LOCI, aimed at rediscovering protagonists and events among the most significant for the artistic history of the Lucanian territory, the exhibition dedicated to the artist Felice Lovisco is set up. With the GENIUS LOCI program, the SoutHeritage Foundation proposes a series of exhibitions aimed at rediscovering and bringing to the attention of sector operators, collectors, and the public, historical cultural realities and artists active in Basilicata. With this exhibition program, the foundation reaffirms an aspect of its cultural work based on the care of the relationship with the heritage (material and immaterial) of the territory as an act of contemporary culture. In this design framework, which reflects on the creative territory of Basilicata as a generator of particular aesthetics, after the previous focuses on the artistic research of Antonio Paradiso, Riccardo Dalisi, Francesco Marino di Teana, Gerardo Cosenza, Donato Linzalata, Salvatore Sebaste, Tommaso Lisanti, and Franco Di Pede, in the setting of the current headquarters of the foundation, located in a container of high artistic and architectural value in the heart of the Sassi districts of Matera (Palazzo Viceconte - formerly Venusio), the exhibition presents a selection of works by the artist Felice Lovisco (1950, Melfi_PZ. Lives and works in Potenza), in which figuration and abstraction coexist in suggestive representations. The exhibition program, as a recognition of protagonists and events among the most significant for the artistic history of the Lucanian territory, pays tribute with renewed attention to this protagonist of painting in Basilicata who has always had a particular propensity towards avant-gardes and pictorial concepts developed in the field of visual arts of the twentieth century. Through a careful selection of representative works (some exhibited for the first time), the exhibition features 20 works that explore the artist's pictorial and compositional worlds in a game of interlocking and references made of iconographic coincidences, figuration, and symbolic elements. The exhibition project aims to highlight the artist's choice for the use of a primitive visual system (more suitable for describing a different and alternative reality), in which his attention to a painting attentive to the recovery, even conceptual, of tradition and to the citations from the great repertoire of art history (Expressionism and Transavantgarde) is recurrent.
