The exhibition 'My name is Renato Casaro' was born from the collaboration between the National Museum of Matera , the Veneto Regional Museums Directorate , the Tapirulan Association and the Matera Film Festival and is curated by Chiara Matteazzi and Fabio Toninelli .
Casaro forms the link between the two exhibitions because he was the author of the film poster Diabolik by Mario Bava filmed in 1968 and for this occasion the artist has re-proposed a new version of that mythical original sketch which was lost.
The exhibition celebrates Casaro with an exhibition of 100 works including originals and posters made from the 1950s to today.
Renato Casaro is considered one of the most important, influential and innovative Italian film poster artists . During his long career he has created thousands of works dedicated to the seventh art , becoming very popular also abroad. He has worked with the greatest directors in the world such as Quentin Tarantino , Bernardo Bertolucci , Sergio Leone , James Cameroon , David Lynch
The exhibition and the catalog have been conceived as an exhibition itinerary through which the visitor/reader is accompanied by Casaro himself in the history of his art and his professional activity. The story, also enlivened by the use of anecdotes, intersects with levity and pleasure with themes such as the relationship between the artist and the client, between the processes of artistic creation and the industrial rhythms and strategies, new technologies, the evolution of public taste.
The exhibition will be open every day until March 31, 2022 .
