The National Museum of Matera presents two temporary exhibitions in the spaces of Palazzo Lanfranchi , curated by Alessandro Demma and Annamaria Mauro : Tensioni. Gisella Chaudry - Paolo Grassino and Between Faces . The human being in the graphic works of Luigi Guerricchio . The two projects, which inaugurate on 19 July 2023 at 6.00 pm, arise from the desire for a museum strategy based on the construction of research dedicated to the languages of contemporary art to define a broader perspective of the National Museum of Matera, a dynamic space in capable of telling numerous artistic and cultural stories from archeology to the present day.

The artists Gisella Chaudry and Paolo Grassino will take part in the inauguration of the exhibition, together with the curators, the art historian Alessandro Demma and the Director of the National Museum of Matera, Annamaria Mauro.

The Tensioni project. Gisella Chaudry - Paolo Grassino, set up in the Carmine church , was born from the research of the two artists on some of the most central themes of current society, the process of time and memory, the state of matter and the body, the condition of change, of transformation of our "being in time". Two artists, of different generations who have the roots of their research in the experience of human beings and things , to investigate the essential forms of the work in an intense, cutting way, full of physical and conceptual tensions .

Gisella Chaudry's point of contact - two large circles, 3 meters in diameter, in expanded polystyrene with graphite and combustion that tell the story of the energy and movement of matter and signs that mark life in the present time - and T by Paolo Grassino , two aluminum sculptures of human figures united by the cruel crossing of a beam, which tells of the drama and human existence - merge in an intense melee , in a unique narrative that weaves the threads of the thoughts of the two artists.
