The Sozzani Foundation presents in collaboration with the Anna Piaggi Cultural Association “Karl Lagerfeld, Anna Piaggi. Illustrated diary of an Anna-chronistic way of dressing ”in two exhibitions. One hundred and eighty original drawings by Karl Lagerfeld portray Anna Piaggi, muse, friend and style icon in the 70s, 80s and 90s. From their first meeting in Paris in 1973, they became inseparable. Lagerfeld draws inspiration from Anna Piaggi's continuous stylistic metamorphosis and portrays her between 1973 and 1996 in her homes in Brittany, in Monte Carlo, in Paris or in a hotel during their numerous travels together, in Rome, Florence, London. Piaggi in everyday situations, as she herself describes: "In most of the drawings there is a current and continuous theme: the sublimation of everyday life behind closed doors [...], a kind of theatricalization of everyday existence that Karl illustrates, documents , underlines, and idealizes. " And Karl Lagerfeld adds “His scene is the everyday one. You know how to dramatize the moment that passes: instinct is your memory. "
“Anna-chronique started in Paris at a Chinese restaurant table. On a paper napkin, Karl had made a sketch of my head with freshly cut hair by Henry Hebel of Vidal Sassoon in London, and my accessory of that evening: a 'telescopic' fan with an ivory handle. Since then, Karl has continued to design me and many of my clothes, mostly portrayed in daily and private life. " Anna Piaggi, 1986
“Anna is a graphic person. In dressing it creates an image. It never provokes, but evokes. An unexpected detail, a stylistic pleonasm, a contradictory accessory, an unusual combination, an unpredictable association of ideas and an indispensable humor make it a unique presence that has always pushed me to design it. "Karl Lagerfeld, 1986
