Elpis Foundation, in collaboration with Threes, presents the third edition of Basement, a platform of sound experimentation that offers a site-specific installation specially designed for the foundation's basement.

After Clarice Calvo-Pinsolle (October 2024) and VISIO (February 2024), from Thursday, November 13, 2025, to Sunday, February 1, 2026, Vica Pacheco is the protagonist of this new edition with an interactive installation intervention titled The Flower Requiem Whistling Vases.

The series of 3D-modeled ceramic vases, titled The Flower Requiem Whistling Vases, evoke memories of the artist's grandmother's scented lily bouquets that filled the family home, and of the terracotta vases filled with hydrangeas and agapanthus by her mother. Vica Pacheco is fascinated by the ephemeral existence of these flowers that, immersed in water-filled vases, adorn the interiors of homes until they wither.

Each vase, digitally modeled in ceramic through three-dimensional processes, behaves like a water flute: a hybrid body, simultaneously a container and a musical instrument. When air passes through it, it produces a whistle: a fragile, vibrant breath that recalls bird songs and translates the ephemeral vitality of organic matter into sound. The trills and tremolos that emerge from these porous bodies evoke the unstable beauty of flowers and their slow metamorphosis, composing a requiem that is both an act of listening and attention.

The installation is divided into three distinct environments, each characterized by its own spatial and sound identity. In the first room, a single vase placed in the center comes to life thanks to a compressed air system, transforming silence into a vital breath.

In the second room, two vases face each other in a suspended dialogue, where the balance between expectation and resonance generates a perceptual tension. In the third room, a series of vases scattered in space composes a choral landscape: their voices, recorded and diffused in multichannel, expand in an immersive environment that transforms the intimacy of breathing into a collective listening experience.
