From May 8th to November 4th, in room 1 of the Pinacoteca, it will be possible to admire the exhibition "Still Life" by the sculptor Jago, curated by Maria Teresa Benedetti.
In a continuous dialogue between past and present, Jago openly confronts the Basket of Fruit by Caravaggio, among the most iconic masterpieces of the Ambrosiana collection, with a work that transforms the language of tradition into a raw and current reflection: a basket filled not with fruits, but with weapons. Guns, rifles, machine guns pile up in the basket, a symbol of a "nature" now contaminated by violence and the seriality of human production.
"Still Life" arises from a profound exploration around the concept of fragility itself. If in Caravaggio's painting the beauty of ripe fruit becomes a metaphor for the passing of time and the transience of life, Jago pushes this reflection further, showing what now fills our lives: objects built to kill, mass-produced, emptied of meaning yet terribly real.
