From 14 May to 27 July 2019
The Atelier Pharaildis Van den Broeck Archive is pleased to inform you of the extension of Project Room # 2 until 27 July 2019 on the occasion of the selection of Giulio Squillacciotti among the winners of the Italian Council 2019 call which will see him carry out an unpublished project in a important Milanese institution.
For Project Room # 2, inaugurated last May, Giulio Squillacciotti presented a new video project Vrijdag, Antwerpen specifically designed to dialogue with some episodes in the story of Pharailidis Van den Broeck.
Squillacciotti's research focuses on Phara's creative beginnings in Antwerp, creating a symbolic bridge between Milan, the Belgian artist's place of adoption, and Antwerp, the city where she trained at the Fashion Design department of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and where he first presented his clothes at the African Pavilion.
"How to translate a day with someone you do not know, but with whom you are immediately and with whom you have to do something to talk about someone else who is no longer there?", Asks Giulio Squillacciotti, retracing the places in Antwerp together with PB Van Rossem, longtime friend of Pharaildis Van den Broeck. The intent is to tell the space and time in which the artistic and creative identity of Phara took shape.
