From 18 November to 6 December 2022
After the exhibitions dedicated to Mino Ceretti and Franco Zazzeri, the Museo della Permanente is organizing a solo exhibition of Togo (Enzo Migneco), the third chapter of the Monographs cycle, focused on the Masters of the Permanente.
About fifty works are exhibited, divided into three fundamental groups: engravings, drawings and paintings, which cover a very wide chronological span, from the engravings of the seventies / eighties, to the black paintings of the following decade, to the most recent paintings made in the course the last two years.
Three distinct and easily recognizable nuclei that correspond to the stages of a constantly evolving path, in which even the most recurring and most characteristic elements of the pictorial language of Togo change skin over the decades, enriching themselves with new contents and meanings.
The exhibition itinerary ideally begins with the engravings, which range from the end of the seventies to all the eighties, also including some more recent works from the early 2000s.
For Togo, who often calls himself a graphic artist, even before being a painter, engraving represents a fundamental chapter of his work, no less important than the works on canvas: his large body of engravings has always been highly appreciated by critics, who place him among the greatest contemporary engravers.
The central theme, the most recurrent and most recognizable in the engravings, is memory, which brings out places of youth and fragments of the past, rendered with a sense of transfiguration and abstraction typical of graphics, which allows him to see beyond the visible reality. .
