From Saturday 1 July to Sunday 3 September 2023, Palazzo Reale in Milan presents the exhibition XHIXHA. The palace in the mirror, a new exhibition project by the artist Helidon Xhixha (Durres, 1970).

The exhibition, promoted by the Municipality of Milan - Culture, produced by Palazzo Reale with the Helidon Xhixha studio and curated by Michele Bonuomo, traces an itinerary in five stages that crosses the spaces of the Milanese palace, accompanying the visitor from the Scalone d'Onore designed from Piermarini to the sumptuous historic rooms, recently restored.

Helidon Xhixha's artistic practice is rooted in the in-depth study of the properties of stainless steel and in its use as a founding material for the creation of monumental sculptural installations. Referring to the ancient conception of the mirror as a passage to another universe and of the reflection as the illusion par excellence, the artist creates enigmatic abstract landscapes, composed of geometric and essential shapes. The cubes, cylinders, parallelepipeds and spheres that make up the visual vocabulary of Helidon Xhixha are worked in such a way as to multiply their reflecting surfaces, creating an impression of elegant dynamism and capturing the images that surround the work, from the architecture of the rooms to the people.

On display at the Royal Palace is a selection of five installations, specifically conceived to intercept and amplify the architectural elements of the historical environments in which they are exhibited.
