Civico Museo Archeologico
Archaeological Museum è placed in a unique architectural context, the’ former convent of the Maggiore Monastery of St. Maurice, founded in’ eighth century AD, where the history of ancient Milan still see his tracks. The Museum collects testimonies from different cultures antique. Many works, a selection of whichè exposed in the paths dedicated to Milan Antica, from excavations conducted in citiesà from the nineteenth century. The collection of the museumè then enriched over time of different works, from donations, purchases and deposits. The Museum's collections are on display in several rooms available to suit the cultural environment. On the ground floor, through the first cloister dedicated to public housing, is the Ancient Milan. The visit still in the basement - section of the Art Gandhara and Home Mediolanum - , then in the cloister where an exhibition, next to the remains of the Roman Milan ( domus, walls and towers) inscriptions of ancient Milan. In the new wing, accessible from the cloister, on the ground floor, next to the conference-teaching room is the section on Caesarea Maritima (Israel). On the first floorè altomedioevale the exposed section, the second one Etruscan, while the third floorè dedicated to the Greek section.
