The Museum of Musical Instruments in Milan

The Museum of Musical Instruments of Milan , housed in the rooms of the Castello Sforzesco, exhibits a rich and varied collection of musical instruments from the fifteenth century BC up to the twentieth century.

The exhibition itinerary opens with a section dedicated to the Monzino family collection: tools and materials for making bow and plucked instruments , such as forms of violins and guitars, hacksaws, chisels, and about forty musical instruments. A nucleus of examples made between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, collected by the family itself, are followed by instruments of numerous luthiers who worked under the Monzino family.

In the Museum of Musical Instruments in Milan there are violas, violins, guitars and mandolins, in the Milanese and Neapolitan variants after a selection of ethnographic musical instruments, the exhibition continues organized by typological groupings: string instruments, plucked instruments, wind instruments srpe , pochette, hurdy-gurdy and violets, keyboard instruments.
