The BPER Gallery presents in the spaces of its own art gallery in Modena a new exhibition project entitled: The time of writing. Images of knowledge from the Renaissance to today curated by Stefania De Vincentis, from an idea by Francesca Cappelletti, with the Patronage of the Municipality of Modena. The exhibition, open to the public from Friday, September 19, 2025 to Sunday, February 8, 2026, opens to the public on the occasion of the philosophy festival (from September 19 to 21 in Modena, Carpi, and Sassuolo), an event of which BPER is the main sponsor, and proposes an exploratory path around the concept of, the theme chosen for this XXV edition of the festival. The time of writing. Images of knowledge from the Renaissance to today develops a reflection that spans the centuries, tracing how the transmission of knowledge has relied on images constructed also through the use of written word. Books, scrolls, and inscriptions placed within iconographic compositions communicated precise meanings that have evolved over time, becoming difficult to interpret in subsequent epochs after their creation, while still retaining an intrinsic communicative power capable of dialoguing with the present and the future.
The exhibition traces a narrative that intersects art, history, and representations of knowledge, covering a temporal arc that extends from ancient to contemporary times. The exhibition path puts in dialogue the corporate collection of BPER with prestigious loans from national cultural institutions, such as the Borghese Gallery, the National Galleries of Ancient Art - Palazzo Barberini in Rome, and the National Marciana Library in Venice, with the aim of expanding the levels of reading around the theme paideia and creating new visual and conceptual connections.
