The Museum of the Diocese of Molfetta, Ruvo, Giovinazzo, and Terlizzi, set up on three levels in the elegant spaces of the seventeenth-century Collegio dei Gesuiti, now used as the Bishop's Palace and Episcopal Seminary, houses works of great historical, artistic, archaeological, and liturgical value, living testimonies of the history and the journey of faith undertaken by the local Church over the centuries.

The path starts from a rich archaeological section, with both prehistoric and pre-Roman Age material. Part of the oldest collections comes from the donation of the Archpriest Giuseppe Maria Giovene (1753-1837), who collected numerous artifacts from the Pulo of Molfetta.

On the ground floor, the Lapidarium room is one of the most "vivid" testimonies of the history of the Diocese, along with the gallery displaying the liturgical vestments of the bishops of the Diocese from the seventeenth century to the end of the nineteenth century.

The ground floor ends with the Paschal Mystery, which comes to life from the ancient wooden statues of the Holy Week of Molfetta and leads to the prolific season of local wooden sculpture, linked to Campanian models.

The first floor houses the monumental hall of the Library of the Episcopal Seminary, which houses over 70,000 volumes including manuscripts, incunabula, graduals, sixteenth-century books, and numerous volumes dating back to the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, coming from the library funds of the Jesuits and Dominicans, enriched by numerous donations, embellished by the tempera decoration of the vault, created between 1890 and 1891 by the Molfetta artist Michele Romano.

The art gallery set up on the second floor of the Museum aims to reconstruct the developments of local painting and contemporary southern production from the sixteenth century to the present day.

The Treasure Room collects sacred furnishings in typological order from the Treasury of the Cathedral Chapter of Molfetta and from numerous churches and parishes of the Diocese, made by diligent silversmiths in Naples between the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries.

The last section, dedicated to Contemporary Art, gathers works by artists active in the local and national cultural scene, in constant growth and evolution.

Not least, the presence of an immersive room, exhibition halls for temporary exhibitions, and workshops for educational activities make the Museo Diocesano an active element in dialogue with the territory.

Since 2024, the Museum has been managed by the Museo Diocesano Foundation, together with the institutes and places of cultural interest of the Diocese of Molfetta-Ruvo-Giovinazzo-Terlizzi.
