In the heart of the 9th arrondissement of Paris, at 14 rue de la Rochefoucauld, you will find the Museo Gustave Moreau, a house-studio where the symbolist painter lived and worked for almost fifty years. Transformed by Moreau himself into a museum, it preserves his creative spirit intact.
The museum houses an impressive collection of works: over 1,300 paintings, watercolors, and sketches, accompanied by approximately 5,000 drawings, kept in the bright studios on the upper floor. On the ground and first floors, you will find the domestic spaces - the studio, the dining room, and the library - furnished according to the original layout imagined by the artist.
Here you can admire masterpieces such as The Apparition, The Unicorns, Jupiter and Semele, and The Life of Humanity, hung one above the other to create a dense and dreamlike atmosphere. Do not miss the elegant spiral staircase, a distinctive architectural element that connects the studios and private rooms.
