From 5 October to 16 November 2025
at the Chiesa del Suffragio, inaugurates The work itself. Art photographs and artist portraits from 1990 to 2024, the solo exhibition by Michele Alberto Sereni curated by Roberto Lacarbonara, which will be open until November 16. The exhibition is an in-depth exploration that originates and develops from the homonymous editorial project (published by Magonza) produced by the cultural association Le Nuove Stanze di Arezzo and realized with the support of the Photography Strategy 2024 grant within the “Strategic plan for the development of photography in Italy and abroad 2024-2026” implemented by the General Direction of Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture. The exhibition is promoted by the Municipality of Pesaro and the Pescheria Foundation - Visual Arts Center in collaboration with Pesaro Museums. On the occasion of the inauguration, the book will be presented in the presence of the author, the curators, and the publisher.
What makes a form, an object artistic? How can the gaze go beyond the representation and appropriate the immaterial substance of an idea? These are two
questions that entirely permeate the work of Michele Alberto Sereni (Pesaro, 1958). Because what remains of the artwork – whatever its language
and its materiality – is always an image, constructed and enclosed within its spatial and two-dimensional dimensions, capable of prompting observation and reflection to the point of surpassing representation and becoming a work in itself.
