Conceived and organized by Repubblica in collaboration with Electa and Studio Azzurro
Promoted by the Department of Culture, Special Company Palaexpo and Mattatoio Foundation of Rome - City of Arts
On January 14, 1976, the first copy of Repubblica was released in a Roman printing house under the direction of founder Eugenio Scalfari. It was the beginning of a special journey, full of events, unique personalities, and successes, which now reaches the milestone of half a century. To celebrate its first 50 years, Repubblica is organizing an exhibition aimed at the community of its readers and more generally at those who wish to delve into the history of a newspaper that has contributed to writing the history of Italian journalism.
The exhibition offers a multimedia journey to relive the first fifty years of the newspaper with photographs, original cartoons, video interviews, and historic front pages, also guiding the visitor through the transformations of journalistic language and communication: from print to digital, from newsstands to social media.
Inside the exhibition, there is also a meeting area where, every Saturday afternoon, visitors can listen to the stories of journalists and authors who bring the newspaper to life every day.
The exhibition itinerary, made up of archive photographs, original objects, front pages, and materials that convey the historical depth of the newspaper, intertwines with an immersive and technological path designed to immerse the visitor in the transformations of journalistic language and communication: from print to digital, from newsstands to social media.
