Alfredo Pirri opens the doors of the Foundation, marking the beginning of the VOLUME! adventure, transforming the space into something different from its past, an approach that will become a distinctive feature of subsequent works. The interaction between place and artist is revealed through three stages, each imbued with unique creativity. The first room is marked by an incisive cut in the floor of the corridor, to evoke the bed of the nearby Tiber and is enriched by brass sculptures, later replaced by latex masks with a tormented expression suspended on rods, which contribute to defining the environment. A wooden staircase acts as a passage to the next phase, accompanied by the sound of falling objects, emitted by three acoustic horns placed on the ground, immersing the viewer in a unique sound experience. Each point prepares the ground for the next and in the third act a concrete bridge raised from the ground connects the previous environment to the road surface and to the end of the route. Its lower surface is painted blue and dusted with white lime, creating a surprising chromatic effect in the surrounding environment, while pink reflected Plastic Squares emerge on a wall along the path. A thin layer of white lime is deposited on the objects, making them almost aseptic as if to absorb experiences, revealing only their outlines and disinfecting the memory of the previous work, as declared by Pirri himself. A journey through shapes, sounds and colors shaped by the artist's ingenuity, revealing a unique atmosphere where the place and creative inspiration merge, becoming essential elements of the same discourse in which each is indispensable to the other.
