The American musician and composer Alvin Curran (Providence, Rhode Island, 1938) retraces over fifty years of his musical research and his numerous collaborations, also recounting his relationship with Rome, the city in which he has lived and worked since 1965.

Through a new sound work, a mixtape that contains fragments of multiple songs and recordings, Curran accompanies the audience on an autobiographical listening journey that goes from the beginning of his career at the end of the 1950s, up to his most recent works. From free improvisations to Fluxus, from compositions for ship sirens to music for orchestra and piano, up to artificial intelligence and songs written for Maria Monti and Memè Perlini, Hear Alvin Here offers an excursus that allows us to retrace some of the issues in filigree centers of experimental and research music from the second half of the twentieth century onwards.

With this new sound work, Curran looks retrospectively at his own work, freely mixing different styles, eras and languages, as if tuning the frequency from time to time to a different fragment of his production, playing with the infinite combinatorial possibilities offered by his repertoire of compositions and sounds. In the world evoked by Curran everything seems to be able to coexist: from popular music to the most refined and free experiments, often interspersed with the constant presence of the piano, an instrument of choice that has accompanied him since early childhood.
