The State Museums Directorate of the city of Rome pays homage to the sixty-year career of Annamaria Russo ARUSS, a versatile artist with an intense chromatic charge, with an anthological exhibition at the headquarters of the Boncompagni Ludovisi Museum, directed by Matilde Amaturo, and the Hendrik Museum Christian Andersen, directed by Maria Giuseppina Di Monte.

The first section of the exhibition will be inaugurated on Friday 9 February at the Boncompagni Ludovisi Museum, a Roman Baroque style villa from the early twentieth century which was once the Roman home of a branch of the family whose name it bears. The Museum which preserves a significant representation of the history of ceramics from Duilio Cambellotti to the present day, constitutes the ideal place for a passionate dialogue with the most famous and exciting productions of Annamaria Russo: the large and colorful painted ceramic plates that the artist created created inspired by the childhood memory of the banquets that, in the grandparents' house, closed the peasant rites of the grape harvest and harvest.

The itinerary at the Hendrik Christian Andersen Museum, which will open on Tuesday 20 February, appears decidedly anthological. In the three floors of the "building with adjoining sculpture studio" built in the 1920s by the Norwegian-American sculptor Hendrik Andersen, Annamaria Russo's passionate artistic adventure is recomposed: from the portraits and still lifes of the early 1970s - works in which subjects of figurative tradition are treated with mixed techniques: oil, sand and glue - to suggestive collages made with wallpaper recovered from 1960s houses, to futuristic plexiglass structures, one of the artist's favorite materials, which allow her to create microcosms in dialogue with Hendrik Christian Andersen's utopian project.
