From 9 October to 19 January 2026
On the occasion of her return to Villa Medici as a guest artist, Eva Jospin takes care of three spaces: the Gypsothèque, the former studio of Balthus, and the Studiolo of Ferdinando de’ Medici, also known as the "room of the birds." In resonance with the architecture and iconography of the premises, the artist presents a series of pieces in bronze, cardboard, and silk thread embroidery. The exhibition also features two videos, Carmontelle (2023, 1’20) and Forêt (2023, 6’40).
For over fifteen years, Eva Jospin has been creating imaginary landscapes that intertwine ruins, architectural elements, and vegetal motifs. Through various materials - cardboard, plant fibers, wood, metal, fabric - she brings to life installations of strong scenic impact that evoke our childhood dreams, between mysterious caves and enchanting gardens.
Since its creation in 2016, the Art Club series has brought together works by international contemporary artists with the heritage of the Académie de France in Rome. Taking the form of visual and plastic interventions scattered throughout the spaces of Villa Medici (loggia, gardens, salons), this series renews the experience of visiting a place where epochs blend and unexpected encounters arise.
