From 10 October to 29 November 2026
Images that need to be questioned and that question the viewer, invoking reflection in these always hurried times.
This is the pictorial art of Giuseppe de Palma, a young artist from Molfetta born in 2001, who will be on display at the Pinacoteca Michele de Napoli in Terlizzi from October 10 to November 29, 2026.
The exhibition presents a series of completely new paintings, born from the pictorial and philosophical research that de Palma has developed over the past few years. Characterizing his art is the use of allegories, which become characters in a symbolic theater, staging the consciousness of the human being. These are paintings of great figurative technique, preceded by studies and drawings, also exhibited in the rooms, which show a meditation on the subjects and meanings that De Palma impresses on the canvases.
"In a time dominated by images destined to be quickly consumed, de Palma asks the viewer for something different: time. He asks to stop, observe, recognize the symbols, follow the relationships between the figures, and finally, to be involved in the questions they pose," writes Sandro Barbagallo, curator of the exhibition, and it is perhaps a sign of great respect also for the time the artist has taken to create the paintings and for the questions that these allegories pose: the figures that inhabit the canvases enter into relationship with each other, building a unitary narrative made of symbols, references, and new allegories.
On Saturday, October 10 at 6:00 pm, the exhibition will be inaugurated in the presence of the artist Giuseppe de Palma, the curator Sandro Barbagallo, and the mayor of Terlizzi, Michelangelo De Chirico. The exhibition is curated by the FeArT Cooperative, while the catalog, which will be available at the inauguration, is published by Claudio Grenzi Editore.
After the experience in Terlizzi, the exhibition project will move to Tuscany, to Florence, at the Museo de’ Medici, where the artist has been living and working for years now.
