From 26 June to 15 November 2025
From June 26 to November 15, 2025, the Real Academia de España en Roma presents the exhibition Processi 152, curated by Caterina Borelli and Anna Cestelli Guidi. The exhibition showcases projects created by twenty scholarship holders from diverse disciplinary backgrounds, in residence at the Real Academia de España en Roma for the year 2024-2025.
The exhibition, born from the meeting and dialogue between the curators, scholarship holders, and fellows, from its title Processi aims to highlight the connections that unite the different expressions of an ongoing artistic experimentation, often matured and shared among the scholarship holders during their residency months. It is an exhibition moment that does not represent the conclusion of a project but rather an opportunity to share a common experience and open up to new possibilities for future reflections and research.
Despite the linguistic and conceptual variety, the exhibition is conceived as a path that highlights the connections between the displayed works, which in turn contaminate each other, invading the spaces of the academy - both public and private - projecting themselves outward, seeking dialogue and confrontation with the cultural, historical, and urban layers of the city.
As the curators state: "Research on visual devices, play, fantastic and even futuristic imagery is connected to theoretical visual essays and socio-political investigations, as well as interventions in urban space but also to more formalistic practices, in relation to the materials and architecture of the city. Cinematic imagery, in particular, characterizes many of the exhibited works, expressed in moving image works that blend narration and experimentation".
Each project reflects a unique perspective and a singular language, but all are imbued with a specific attention to space: visual, social, architectural, cultural, and temporal. The works on display are projections (video, super8, and 16 mm), installations, sound works, and performances that transcend traditional two-dimensionality to invade space, often articulating themselves in immersive environments.
