From 28 June to 30 July the CCO Mario Mieli, together with the cultural association TWM Factory, presents at the Slaughterhouse REVOLUTIONARI340 years of the Mario Mieli Circle of Homosexual Culture in Rome , an exhibition aimed at celebrating forty years of activity of one of the longest-lived LGBTQIA+ associations of the Roman territory. The exhibition is promoted by the Department of Culture of Rome Capital and by the Palaexpo Special Company, conceived and organized by CCO Mario Mieli, together with the cultural association TWM Factory and curated by Ilaria Di Marco, Carlo Battisti and Davide Lunerti.

RIVOLUZIONARI3 opens and makes it accessible to the public for the first time, in the spaces of the Pelanda, the Marco Sanna Documentation Centre, the historical archive of the Mario Mieli Club which has more than a hundred materials dating back to the period from the 1970s to today.

The exhibition itinerary traces the chronology of the events that overwhelmed the city and the LGBTQIA+ community in those years: from the first self-affirmation struggles of the homosexual liberation movement, derived from the first collectives and associations such as FUORI!, Narciso and CUOR, to the union of a common front, channeled into CCO Mario Mieli, to respond to the health emergency of HIV-AIDS; from the need to create a safe place for the community, which leads to the birth of the cult Muccassassina evening (inaugurated for the first time right in the halls of the Mattatoio, from which it takes its name, evoking the imagery of a cow that resurrects to avenge the own sisters); to the need to come out in the open during the very first Pride events.

On the occasion of the exhibition, the homonymous book will be published, created thanks to Edizioni TLON: a volume that will contain the historical value of the testimony of the association, both in the documentation of activism and in its cultural production, in the first true and official written history of the Circle of Homosexual Culture Mario Mieli.

The goal of RIVOLUZIONARI3 is to give back to the city a fragment of its cultural heritage, enhancing and bringing to light the historical legacy of the homosexual liberation movement and its traces in the faces, places and words of forty years of history.
