The exhibition offers a selection of about sixty photographs, many of which are unpublished, taken by the well-known Italian photographer between the early Fifties and the year Two Thousand. Sergio Strizzi's shots have immortalized the great movie stars and sometimes have become icons that, in the collective imagination, have replaced the film itself.
The exhibition path is divided into three main macro themes. A series of unpublished photographs that make up the service dedicated to Monica Vitti carried out at the Torre Galfa in Milan in 1960; some portraits of great cinema personalities: actors, actresses, and directors caught during the making of films and testifying to the photographer's main quality on the scene, that of making himself invisible; and finally, several backstage photos that vividly capture the atmosphere that permeated the film sets in past years. From a Sophia Loren surrounded by the crowd during the filming of The Gold of Naples by Vittorio De Sica (1954), to the photographs taken on the set of some films by Michelangelo Antonioni in the early Sixties (La Notte, L'Eclisse, Red Desert), up to those taken during the filming of Life is Beautiful by Roberto Benigni in 1997.
