From 17 February to 29 August 2021
A passionate work of research, reflection and debate on the first decade of the 21st century, through the point of life of the MAXXI.
In 2020 MAXXI celebrates its first 10 years: an opportunity to reflect on the identity of the museum, retrace the path taken and set the future. The exhibition, which explores 5 major themes, stems from a passionate work of research, reflection and debate, and gazes on the first decade of the 21st century through the point of view of MAXXI and the artists who animated and transformed it. It is not intended to be a self-referential summary of the museum's exhibitions, but an “immaterial” reinterpretation of them in a perspective that lays the foundations of a story for the future.
In a thematic and chronological reading, thousands of images, videos, sounds and words, multimedia installations are presented. The installation curated by Petra Blaisse's Dutch studio Inside-Outside, recognized for its innovative contribution in the design of exhibitions and landscape architecture, creates an engaging environment centered on the multisensory experience. An oral history of the MAXXI journey through the presentation of the words of the artists, curators and staff of the museum.
