The interdisciplinary cooperation project Summer of the Arts showcases worksby the Rome Prize winners of 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 from VillaMassimo in eight institutions in Stuttgart. At the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart,works by Yael Bartana, Manaf Halbouni, and Bjørn Melhus are on display, whichwere created during their time in Rome in response to works from theStaatsgalerie.The "Rome Prize of the German Academy Rome Villa Massimo" is considered one of themost significant awards for German artists working abroad or in Germany. The German Academy Rome VillaMassimo was founded in 1910 by Eduard Arnhold and endowed by the Prussianking. Today, it is supported by the Commissioner of the Federal Government forCulture and Media. The Rome Prize is awarded in collaboration with theCultural Foundation of the German States."Summer of the Arts. Villa Massimo as a guest in Stuttgart" is on display at theStaatsgalerie alongside the collection presentation "THIS IS TOMORROW,"which showcases contemporary artistic positions in dialogue withartworks from the 20th-century collection.A joint project by: Literaturhaus Stuttgart, Kunstmuseum Stuttgart,Association of German Architects Stuttgart, Weissenhofmuseum in the Le Corbusier House,architekturgalerie am weißenhof, Urban Planning Institute of theUniversity of Stuttgart, Musik der Jahrhunderte e. V., and Staatsgalerie Stuttgart.
