From 6 September to 31 December 2025
Characters and myths of rare quality, "Rara Avis", who have marked the course of history, art, philosophy, and humanity.
The exhibition dedicated to them is the one that the National Archaeological Museum of Taranto, thanks to a scientific and research project developed with Prof. Affidato, a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts of Catanzaro and Reggio Calabria, will inaugurate on Saturday, September 6 at 8:00 pm, on the second floor, in the room adjacent to the exhibition of Orpheus and the Sirens.
The interpreter of this tribute is the goldsmith and sculptor Antonio Affidato, who, through nine bronze sculptures with inserts of precious stones, gives "material" form to the testimonies that often create indissoluble links between Puglia and Calabria.
From Magna Graecia, to the Messapians and Romans, the exhibition curated by the archaeologist and professor at the Academy of Fine Arts of Catanzaro, as well as a Member of the Board of Directors of ICPI (Central Institute of Intangible Cultural Heritage), Francesco Cuteri, retraces the routes of the Mediterranean and places at the center of the exhibition, composed of nine heads, the hero of the people of Taranto par excellence, namely Hercules to whom Lisippo once dedicated the colossus placed in the acropolis, now reproduced in bronze and yellow topaz by Affidato.
