Within the framework of the Second Resonance, from April 15 to September 7, 2025, the GAM - Civic Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art of Turin presents Where Space Calls the Sign, an important anthological exhibition dedicated to the work of Alice Cattaneo (Milan, 1976), curated by Giovanni Giacomo Paolin. 

The exhibition recounts different moments of the artist's research, which draw a score in which words like rhythm, interruption, and care accompany the experience of visitors. 

The title of the exhibition is inspired by a conversation the artist had with a master glassmaker from Murano, who, to indicate when and where to cut a certain element for one of her sculptures, suggested doing it "where the material calls." The craftsman's words play between the visible and the invisible and evoke some intrinsic qualities of the material, with which it is possible to establish a certain type of relationship only with the passing of time. The suggestion is to listen to both what we have in front of us and the intuition built from our experience. 

Within the rooms of the GAM, various fragments of Alice Cattaneo's work alternate in a dense yet, at the same time, rarefied exhibition atmosphere. The idea of a personal anthological exhibition presented in a certain order is questioned by the essence of the artist's works, designed and created under conditions that are absolutely non-replicable for her. Titles and dates become almost accessories to signs and materials like iron, wood, glass, and paper that are imbued with meaning.
