The church of San Filippo (69x37m) is the largest in Turin. Construction began in 1675 on an area donated by Carlo Emanuele II, based on a design by Antonio Bettino. Little remains of Guarini's project, the current appearance was conceived by the architect Juvarra between 1715 and 1730. The church has a single nave, surmounted by a large barrel vault with lunettes, with six side chapels. The rhythm is marked by the perfect interplay between solids and voids, the side chapels are framed by fluted pilasters surmounted by Corinthian capitals, light filters through 7 large curved and richly decorated windows. At the end of the nave appears the majestic Baroque altar by Garove. The presbytery is surmounted by a dome with a lantern. The building was completed with the construction of the facade pediment in 1891. In the complex of San Filippo - composed of a church, oratory, sacristy, crypt, and convent - numerous valuable works of art are preserved, such as altarpieces, reliquaries, etc.
