From 13 May to 26 October 2025
The temporary exhibition at the Reggia di Venaria of the precious throne from the Royal Palace of Naples is the result of collaboration between the Consortium of Savoy Royal Residences, the Royal Palace of Naples, and the Conservation and Restoration Center La Venaria Reale, which carried out its restoration.
The entire operation, made possible by the contribution of Intesa Sanpaolo, represents another piece of the metaphorical journey into Italian royalty undertaken for some time by the Reggia itself through numerous exhibitions, conferences, and publications.
The restoration interventions and in-depth research on the work have led to important new discoveries, such as the discovery that it is a Savoy throne and not Bourbon (as long erroneously believed), thus adding further meaning to the presence of the throne in the ceremonial halls of the Reggia. A relationship - that between Turin and Naples - in line with the roles of the two ancient capitals and the close cultural relations they had. Relationships renewed today by collaborations between the palaces of Venaria and Naples, both members of the Association of European Royal Residences.
The presentation of the restoration at the Reggia di Venaria constitutes a significant preview of the 20th edition of Restituzioni, one of the most important initiatives of the Culture Project by Intesa Sanpaolo in support of the protection and enhancement of Italian artistic heritage, which will take place in Rome next autumn at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni.
