Born in Bibbiano (RE) on 11 September 1746, the famous scientist, bibliophile and scholar of local and military history was appointed in 1801 Diplomatic Agent of the Italian Republic at the Swiss Confederation, where he remained for about 12 years. Decorated with the Legion of Honor (1803) and the Cross of the Order of the Iron Crown (1806), he died in Reggio Emilia on 10 September 1822.
