The suffering expression of the Christus patiens dominates the artistic composition of the work. The head is inclined forward because it is painted, along with the aureole, on a protruding wooden disc, fixed on the vertical axis. At the ends of the cross arms are the Virgin (left) and Saint John the Evangelist (right).
