Description

The panel of the Madonna with Child comes from the Bassanese monastery dedicated to Santa Maria della Misericordia, then in the seventeenth century to the Blessed Giovanna Bonomo. Michele Giambono, a pupil of Jacobello del Fiore, was one of the most lively interpreters in Veneto of the lesson of Gentile da Fabriano. The gold background, from which the typical bolus armenus preparation clearly emerges, does not preclude the Madonna with Child from communicating to the observer an intimate spontaneity perceptible by the posture of the hands, by the vivid colour of the incarnates, but above all by the intense exchange of glances between mother and son.
