The Raccolta Lercaro and Studio la Linea Verticale - Contemporary Art will inaugurate In medio coeli on 14 December at 6pm, a solo show by Francesca Dondoglio which can be visited at the Raccolta Lercaro until 14 January 2024.

Francesca Dondoglio, born in 1990, has developed her own peculiar pictorial research over the years: through the removal of any symbol the pictorial space lives exclusively on chromatic vibrations. Color is not understood for its aesthetic value, but as a primary emotional expression aimed at creating a new symbolism of the possible. The binary code of the Turin artist is the exact opposite of the computer code; far from technology it concerns the colors with the greatest impact on the Soul. Blue and Red like High and Low, White and Black, Life and Death, are inseparable brothers. The harmonious meeting of colors generates a new place of possibility, a middle path between transcendence-spirit-life-body, an ideal meeting in the duality of human existence, earthly and spiritual.

The exhibition is enriched by critical texts by Roberto Mastroianni, who introduces the aesthetic-existential dimension of the artist, and by Alessandro Mescoli, who presents the new and unprecedented series of works on wood.

Roberto Mastroianni writes about the artist: « In this cycle of works, born from the dialogue with Campo's poetry and essays, especially with the essay “In medio coeli” present in the posthumous collection of writings Gli unperdonabili (1984), the paintings they lead to chromatic, aniconic and non-figural representation that space in which the sign is sedimented with reference to the ultrasensitive. Starting from the dichotomy between the known and the unknown, between the visible and the invisible, Campo identifies in fairy tales and poetry the production of images and symbols that allow one to reach the Kingdom of Heaven with an existential path, that is, absolute knowledge, the Gnostic dimension of spiritual knowledge which all human beings aspire to. This space for the poetic word and for mythological and fairy-tale metaphors is interpreted and returned by Dondoglio through the use of color, which transforms poetry into pictorial stratification and figural absence ."

On the occasion of the exhibition, a new series of works on wood is exhibited to the public for the first time, presented by Alessandro Mescoli's text: « Wood as a living support, previous and ancestral progenitor of paper, collects Dondoglio's pastels. Glazes and layers that are distributed in an unexpected way, stumbling and slipping into asperities, furrows and knots: previous signs that hold colors and nuances like a breath. Francesca acts, works, and the support decides how to hold back, highlighting what by affinity chooses to resist and remain waiting to be fixed".

Furthermore, Francesca Dondoglio's solo show represents the first appointment of an exhibition promoted by the Lercaro Collection which, thanks to the collaboration with galleries, artists and curators, intends to offer, on an essentially monthly basis, new perspectives on art: «within the exhibition space of the Collection - explains Giovanni Gardini, Director of the Museum - we want to create an environment for research on contemporary art, a sort of project room , an open space in which artists, curators, gallery owners and Academies can find a favorable context for experimentation".

Thanks to the collaboration with the Pasticceria Regina Di Quadri, the inauguration on Thursday 14 December at 6 pm at the Raccolta Lercaro will be the opportunity for a Christmas toast and to taste and book the “His Majesty” panettone created in a limited edition for a meeting between art and taste.

The exhibition will be open to visitors with free admission from 14 December 2023 until 14 January 2024 at the following times:

Tuesday and Wednesday 3.00pm-7.00pm; Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday 10.00-13.00 / 15.00-19.00

The Lercaro Collection will be closed on Sunday 24th and Sunday 31st December 2023.
