From 8 March to 28 July 2024
The great exhibition, entitled Franco Fontana. Colore , curated by Studio Fontana , promoted by the Brescia Musei Foundation and co-produced with Skira as part of Testimoni, seventh edition of the Brescia Photo Festival , presents 122 images taken from 1961 to 2017.
The exhibition itinerary, divided into 4 sections, documents Franco Fontana's research on the themes "landscape", "urban landscape", "presence absence", "people", "American light", "fragments", "highways" and "asphalt ” : for the author, everything is or becomes landscape.
Franco Fontana, internationally renowned photographer, prefers color as a subject to investigate and report reality through the photographic medium. Light and color range thus define spaces, architecture, stories and life.
With his thematic series, Fontana made color an actor and not a means to transmit a message. Natural, urban and natural landscapes are the fulcrum of the exhibition dedicated to him in the spaces of the Santa Giulia Museum: in fact, Fontana has always been attracted by surfaces, urban portions, layers of history and the details of daily life: the wait , the study of the shot and the color is the result of the desire to convey in an essential and concise way a clean composition, marked "simply" by the colour.
