From 24 March to 25 June 2023
Luce della Montagna is the great exhibition that Fondazione Brescia Musei and Skira are staging to explore, with three absolute protagonists of twentieth-century photography and a contemporary master, the iconographic universe of the mountain.
Produced by: Municipality of Brescia, Brescia Museums Foundation, Alleanza Cultura, Skira
Edited by: Filippo Maggia
The tale of the mountain presents the giant Ansel Adams with his black and white photographs of landscapes of American national parks, true totems of the twentieth century; Martin Chambi, one of the first important photographers of South America, with his Peruvian Andes steeped in ethnographic and historical documentation; Vittorio Sella, one of the most extraordinary historical photographers of the mountains, committed to documenting mountaineering explorations like no other. And finally, with an original portfolio being created on commission by the Brescia Musei Foundation in the Brescia Alps, the 'home' mountain imprinted by Axel Hütte, one of the most important representatives of contemporary German photography. The exhibition represents the crown jewel of the VI Edition of the Brescia Photo Festival, an event produced by the Brescia Musei Foundation, for the extraordinary 2023 edition dedicated to the theme Capital, and which also involves the Mo.Ca - Center for new cultures.
