The Ugo Guidi House Museum

The Ugo Guidi House Museum (MUG) is a small private museum that bears witness to the fruitful cultural season of the second half of the 20th century in Forte dei Marmi. Ugo Guidi (1912-1977) created his works here and maintained relationships with his colleagues and friends Treccani, Carrà, De Grada, Funi, Soffici, Migneco, Cassinari, Cagli, Afro, Dova, Campigli, Greco, Rosai, Maccari, Bueno, etc.
The Guidi house was in fact not only an atelier, where the master conceived and created most of his works, but also a circle of artists and intellectuals. Currently, over 400 works can be admired in it, including sculptures, drawings and tempera paintings, ranging from the 1940s to 1977 and which show the artistic development of the Master together with documents, photographs and letters from his colleagues and friends.
Today it is a place of culture where exhibitions of contemporary artists are set up who dialogue with the works of Ugo Guidi through works, videos, performances and installations.
The Friends of the Ugo Guidi Museum association has been making museum collections accessible since 2005 and carries out this activity of artistic education and valorisation of excellence with tenacity and free of charge.
The Ugo Guidi House Museum is present as a museum in the Culture System of the Tuscany Region, in the list of "Houses of Memory" of the same region, and in the photographic archives of the provinces of Lucca and Massa-Carrara.
